Guided by a background in installation art, MT approaches clothing as a medium through which structure, emotion, and identity converge. In conversation with SELENEE, she reflects on the philosophy behind her practice, the making of the garments, and why authenticity remains at the heart of every design.
What first made you want to become a designer?
MT: I began my journey as an installation artist, led into fashion by an instinctual drive for artistic expression. Realizing that clothing is the most intimate, interactive “installation” medium relative to human life, I chose to adopt textiles and silhouettes as my primary language to convey art and emotional truth.
What values are most important to you as a designer?
MT: Authenticity and expression. Through design, I aim to empower every woman to claim and embrace her most authentic self, rather than becoming a shadow of someone else or a brand. This is why I say when a woman wears SELENEE, she feels she is expressing herself.
What inspired this collection?
MT: The primary inspiration comes from humanity and emotion. The lived experiences of different people and the profound stories within their hearts serve as my core creative wellspring.
How did the concept evolve from the first idea to the final collection?
MT: It unfolds like a narrative. From the initial spark of emotion, through moments of struggle and growth, to an eventual, mature metamorphosis. Much like life itself, with its distinct journeys and trajectories, this collection seeks to articulate those varied emotional facets and lived experiences.
What role does craftsmanship play in your design process?
MT: Craftsmanship is the vital bridge translating artistic vision into reality. To achieve our signature “sculptural texture,” we constantly push fabric capabilities, employing masterful tailoring and specialized techniques so that structured materials contour gracefully and flat textiles take on dynamic, three-dimensional volume.
How do you balance creativity with wearability?
MT: It comes down to “artistic restraint.” I condense potent creative concepts into key details or architectural lines, while anchoring the overall construction in comfort and freedom of movement. The wearer experiences the full gravity of art without compromising daily ease.
What makes SELENEE different from other fashion brands?
MT: Unlike traditional fashion houses chasing seasonal trends or color palettes, SELENEE operates as a platform defined by three irreplaceable pillars:
Structure: Integrating spatial concepts and architectural pattern-making to infuse garments with sculptural presence and structural poise.
Materiality: Blending technical textiles, metallic grains, and heritage fabrics to dissolve the boundary between fine art objects and everyday attire.

MT: The SELENEE woman never seeks to appease the world; she is devoted to blossoming on her own terms.
She possesses an unconfined soul and a lucid core, knowing intimately that softness and resilience are both forms of strength. She embraces her true self without reservation, carving her long, singular life into a work of art—cut by cut, line by line.
What message do you hope your work communicates to the world?
MT: “Perfection is uninspiring; authenticity is the ultimate expression of vitality.”
I want to remind the world that beauty requires no standardized formula, nor should it ever be tamed or replicated. Raw, unhidden traces and sharp personal edges are the most captivating textures of the soul. Seeking no validation from conventional aesthetics, SELENEE exists to awaken your inner, independent order - to embrace all that makes you singular and stand as the proud author of your own life.
What is your vision for the future of SELENEE?
MT: I do not want SELENEE to be merely a fashion house; it should be a sanctuary for the spirit.
My aspiration has never stopped at the garments themselves. I hope every piece serves as a silent signal for women to recognize one another and stand together. Here, we reject conformity and imitation to honor authentic voices; we do not shine in isolation, but illuminate one another. Fashion sheds its superficial vanity to become a tangible, comforting, and unbreakable force of life.
